The Entrepreneurial Mind

Mesh Media Strategies founder Bill Hobbs developed The Entrepreneurial Mind in 2003 for Dr. Jeff Cornwall, the new director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Belmont University. The Center had no marketing budget, and the challenge was even greater as Dr. Corwnall was hired to create and launch a new major in entrepreneurship within the university’s business school.
Launched in July 2003 as part of the university’s website, The Entrepreneurial Mind – supported by extensive efforts in media relations both with traditional media and the online “new media” – quickly raised the profile of Dr. Cornwall in the local and national business media, and the burgeoning world of business-oriented blogs. The blog is now a member of the Forbes.com Business & Finance Blog Network, and Dr. Cornwall writes a bi-weekly column on entrepreneurship and small business for local paper’s Sunday business section.
The blog helped fuel a cycle of free media in both traditional and online media which has raised the prominence of the entrepreneurship program. The new entrepreneurship major was the fastest-growing major at Belmont in its first three years.

“Bill was highly creative and effective in the work he provided for our Entrepreneurship Center. He created numerous p.r. successes and secured several opportunities for me to write guest columns. Bill taught me most of what I know about blogging. My blog site is now linked by several national media outlets, including Forbes and Inc magazines. I now average 12,000 – 15,000 visits every month.” - Dr. Jeff Cornwall, Professor and Jack C. Massey Chair in Entrepreneurship and the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, June 6, 2006.
